Trade Adjustment Assistance Conference
The Minnesota AFL-CIO, along with the AFL-CIO Working for America Institute is hosting a one day conference on the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) act. The conference will be held at the offices of the Minnesota AFL-CIO on Tuesday, November 1, starting at 9 am.
The purpose of the conference is to pull together employers, state-level union-sponsored workforce development programs and local union leaders who make up the demand side for TAA/RTAA services together with the state agencies and local workforce development public sector actors who make up the supply side for those services in order to improve the service delivery system on behalf of TAA/RTAA-eligible workers.
Topics that will be presented include:
- TAA 101 – what the program provides, how workers become certified, recent changes in the TAA law, etc.
- How Minnesota compares to some of the other states in getting workers certified and getting eligible workers to participate.
- How Minnesota provides TAA program services and recent quality improvement initiatives and their results.
The conference is free, including a continental breakfast and lunch. Enrollment may need to be limited and advanced registration is necessary.
