Fair, sustainable revenue is a ticket off the budget roller coaster
Minnesota AFL-CIO President Shar Knutson offered the following statement in response to Minnesota's November Budget Forecast:
"Between IOUs to schools, a decade of harsh cuts to public services, and budget gimmicks, Minnesota's financial house is sitting on an unbalanced foundation.
"It's clear that the 'no new taxes' ideology of protecting the super-rich and big corporations at the expense of middle class Minnesotans has failed.
"If we want to continue to have strong schools, a 21st century transportation infrastructure, create family-sustaining jobs, and care for those unable to care for themselves, Minnesota will need a significant influx of new tax revenue.
"Middle class Minnesotans have been paying far more than their fair share for the last decade. We need a tax reform plan that provides stable, predictable revenue and asks the richest Minnesotans & corporations to pay their fair share, too."
