Minnesota AFL-CIO Lauds Action on Veterans Job Creation
Upon learning of the US Senate’s passage of two key Veterans portions of President Obama’s American Jobs Act and the President’s executive actions, Minnesota AFL-CIO President Shar Knutson issued the following statement:
“It’s fitting that ahead of Veterans Day, the United States Senate and the President moved to create new job opportunities for the brave men and women who have served our country.
“Minnesota has one of the highest veteran unemployment rates in the country.
“These provisions, the first part of the American Jobs Act about to become law, are a big step in addressing this problem.
“There will now be incentives for businesses to hire veterans, coupled with job training and assistance for our returning service people.
“I’m hopeful this show of bipartisanship will lead to more portions of the American Jobs Act to becoming law in the near future.
“Middle class families can’t wait much longer for Congress to act on creating the jobs we need.”
