Call to Action as Jobs Bill Moves Forward

Feb 19 2010

The $1 billion jobs/infrastructure (bonding) bill that will create both short and long-term jobs is close to going to the governor.

The bill goes to a House/Senate Conference Committee and they plan to have their work done in about a week. The Governor is alternating between vetoing the entire bill and line-item vetoing portions of the bill.

The bill received huge votes in the House (92-37) and the Senate (53-13). These are veto-proof majorities but the Taxpayers League, the Moral Majority and other opponents are putting incredible pressure on Republicans that voted for the bill and voted for jobs.

Please call the 6 House Republicans and 9 Senate Republicans that voted for the bill. Please thank them for voting for the bill and encourage them to override the Governor should he veto the bill. The names emails and office telephone numbers are listed below.

There are also two Democrats – one Senator and one Representative – that voted against the bill.  Call them and ask them to support jobs and vote to override the Governor if an override is necessary.
