Iron Range Teachers Attend Caucus Training

Jan 25 2010

Virginia, MN --23 Education Minnesota members attended a caucus training last Thursday night to get ready for precinct caucuses that will be held around the state on Tuesday, February 2.

The training was a part of the Iron Range Service Unit and includes teachers from Hibbing, Chisholm, Floodwood, International Falls, and Virginia, just to name a few. NE Area Labor Council staffer Chad McKenna lead the training with a presentation, followed by a chance to practice sub-caucusing.

The group learned about the process of developing a party's platform through bringing forward resolutions, electing local party leadership, and how number of delegates are determined through viability numbers. All of the teachers have attended their precinct caucuses in the past, and some of them have been delegates to their county, district and even state convention.
