Minnesota AFL-CIO President Bill McCarthy issued the following statement on Governor Mark Dayton’s 2018 infrastructure proposal:
“While Donald Trump and his Republican allies in Congress delay and play lip service to upgrading our nation’s infrastructure; Governor Dayton is putting a bold plan forward for Minnesota.
“By leveraging a $1.5 billion investment in much-needed upgrades for state buildings, our colleges and universities, and local infrastructure projects, the Governor’s plan will put 22,000 Minnesotans to work in family-sustaining jobs across our state.
“When working people are paid higher wages, that extra money goes right back into local communities.
“The Governor’s proposal will contribute to building economy that works for all Minnesotans. We strongly urge lawmakers to make infrastructure a top priority when they return to the Capitol next month.
